This and That

I live in Greenfield with my husband and cat. I work full time. Frugality and simplicity have been a part of my life long before they became popular and it has made life a lot less stressful. I love volunteering, home improvement/decorating, crafting and gardening.

Crime Prevention Tips For Your Home

-Lock doors and windows when leaving your residence.  Always lock and close your garage door.  Don't leave an open invitation to a burglar or would-be thief.
-Most residential burglaries occur during the daytime.
-Know who is at your door BEFORE opening it. If you do not have a window in your door, consider getting a wide-angle door viewer.
-When not home, leave lamps on timers and consider leaving a radio or television on.  Make your home appear and sound occupied at all times.  If on vacation, have a trusted neighbor, friend or relative check your home while you are away.
-Consider leaving porch lights on at night or get the motion detector lights installed.
Lighting is one of the most INEXPENSIVE crime deterrents.
-Never leave your garage door opener in your car if your car is parked outside.
-Be aware of your surroundings before opening your garage door to park your car, especially at night.
-Report all suspicious activity to the police department.  Don't wait for the person or persons to leave - call right away.
-Check the identification of all solicitors, meter readers, repair and delivery persons prior to permitting entry into your home.
-Be sure to re-key your locks when moving into a new home.
-Sliding glass doors should be secured with auxiliary locks or pinned.  Screws can be installed in the tracks to prevent the removal of sliding glass doors.

I hope these are helpful.

Castle Doctrine Law

I've been considering writing this blog for quite some time.  I hesitate because I realize it is a hot topic and I'm not an expert on it.  I do have opinions on it and appreciate hearing the opinions of others.

Ordinances - Rules & Regulations - Laws - Whatever

When we lived in West Allis, we noticed that a lot of times ordinances were not inforced, especially if someone "knew someone at City Hall".  What was "OK" for one person(s)  was not "OK" for another.  I am sure this is the same in the community where we now live.  Law abiding individuals follow the rules the best they can and others just "get away with" whatever suits them.  It can be frustrating from the standpoint of the person or persons who do abide by laws, ordinances, regulations, etc.

What Does It Mean To Have "Class"

My father told me many, many years ago that eventually, there will only be two classes:  Upper and Lower - the middle class will be extinct.  That we know............however, this blog isn't about this, even though it appears he was "right on".

Vote!

There will be times in the future where we should vote.  We must vote based upon the facts we know to be true and that have helped us to decide on what or who to vote for.  I am not going to get into my political views because that's my business.  I know where I stand and why.  I have taken into account what the past was like and where our future is headed and I will make my decisions based upon that and other factors.  I have had enough of political advertisements already.  I have learned to walk away from someone who has different, strong political views than I do and who want to try to start an argument - not worth getting into an argument.  We all have our points of view and reasons for them.  I don't judge others on how they vote as I don't want them to do the same with me.  Time will tell as to what the votes will lead to.
